THE EPISCOPAL NEW YORKER
September 11, the Second Anniversary

The second anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001, was marked throughout the Episcopal Diocese of New York with prayers and services. St. Paul’s Chapel, located next to the World Trade Center site, continued in its role as a sanctuary for those seeking solace. Counterclockwise from below, family members left memorabilia in the chapel in memorial of lost loved ones; the Rev. Dr. Daniel Matthews, Rector at Trinity, Manhattan, tolled the 9/11 Memorial Bell, given to the city of New York from the city of London; people filled St. Paul’s on the two-year anniversary of September 11; and the morning sunrise filled the Winter Garden of the Financial Center with stunning light.
