Episcopal Church Names O’Neale to Investment Committee

Carol O’Neale, Controller of the Episcopal Diocese of New York, has been named to the Episcopal Church Invest-ment Committee for a three year term.

Ugandan Woman appointed Anglican Communion Observer at the UN

Hellen Grace Wangusa, the United Nations Africa Co-ordinator of the Millennium Development Goals, has accepted the call to be the next Anglican UN Observer. She will begin her work as Anglican Observer in January 2007, in New York with her office at the Episcopal Church Center. Her appointment follows the retirement last July of Archdeacon Taimalelagi Fagamalama Tuatagaloa-Leota the former Observer.

Cooper Receives Award

The Rev. Dr. James H. Cooper, rector of Trinity Church-St. Paul’s Chapel,New York, was recognized for his contribution and dedication to the development of housing services for the elderly. Cooper was awarded the Excellence in Leadership Award at the annual meeting of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) in San Francisco. The award is presented to those whose leadership, creativity and commitment has advanced the vision of healthy, affordable and ethical aging services.

Visit of six clergy from theDiocese of West Malaysia to Our Savior, Manhattan

On Sunday, October 12, Our Savior, Manhattan welcomed six visiting clergy from the Diocese of West Malaysia. They are here for a short-term clinical chap-
laincy training in the metropolitan area. During the Sunday service, The Rev. Deacon Margaret Chen of the Seminari Theoloji Malaysia delivered the sermon while the Rev. Canon Steven Abbarow was the Gospeller. Archdeacon Michael Kendall was the Celebrant. Besides Deacon Chen and Canon Abbarow, the delegation included the Reverend Joshua Ong (Vicar of St. John the Divine, Ipoh), the Rev. Deacon Woon Ying Peng (St. John’s, Ipoh), the Rev. Christopher As Tan (Church of the Good Shepherd, Johor Bahru), and the Rev. Deacon Wong Yoke Chan (St. Augustine’s Church, Ipoh).

Diocesan members appointed to Episcopal Church positions
Bonnie Anderson, President of the House of Deputies, has announced the appointment of members to serve on the Standing Commissions and Committees of The Episcopal Church. In the Diocese of New York, the following people will serve during this triennium:
